Dear Stranger

This Blog is inspired by the book “Dear Stranger”, it has collections of beautiful letters from different authors on the subject of happiness. This book was definitely one of favourite book that made me see others perspective on happiness and sorrows.

Dear Stranger,

How are you? Isn’t this a strange question to ask, I know you will lie again to me and yourself that you are fine. But are you actually fine? I know life can be tough, you have been going through this pain for a long time now, you may be lost, you might think that no one understands you. It is a fact really that no one understands unless they have been through this pain but nearly everyone goes through some sort of pain, yet no one seems to understand. Maybe they lack empathy. But another fact is that you are strong, you can do this. You are lucky if you have someone by your side to support you through your ups and downs. But we need to take care of ourselves, if we do not take care of ourselves then no one else would to. You have to love yourself enough to take care of your little wishes. If you got rejected from a job or college application then do not feel bad. There is good in every rejection, they did not reject you but your fate rejected any bad that could have caused you harm.

The most difficult time in your life is the morning, you have to push yourself, motivate yourself to live up to the society’s expectation. A fake smile, so you do not have to tell anyone about your problems. But you do want to tell someone right? Someone who does not judge you, someone who genuinely wants to listen and know about you, someone who you will not feel like a burden to. While working, you try to keep your problems to the side and focus on fake smiling and laughing just so you look normal. But then you wonder if others are trying to do the same, are they hiding their problems too? ” Maybe their problems are more worse than mine but how are they laughing so much? Maybe they are more stronger or I am just too weak?” The truth is we are all broken in some way, we are all seeking for peace and happiness but we are unable to attain it or we just do not know how to be happy. Some of us are so busy with our life’s that they do even have time to think about our feelings or others feelings, we are working like robots, we have goals and our family to feed that we do not have time to think why and what are we doing. What is happiness to you? For me, happiness means to be content with everything you have. Are you content?

You are trying hard to think positive and ignore the negative thoughts that keep popping into your head, it is not easy to be content. Especially when you have toxic people in your life that keep reminding you of your mistakes or insecurities. They try to show you that they are a better person than you but honestly these are the type of people who need the most love and care. They have not received the love they deserved, they deserve to be understood to, when such people try to act up or show as if they are the best, just agree to it. “Yes, You are the best”, “You deserve to be the best because you are unique, but that does not give you the right to put me down”. ” I am the best too because I am unique, there is no one like me”. Such kind words might annoy them for few minutes but they will be just curious as you have defeated their negativeness with your positiveness. Everyone deserves to be loved and taken care of even the most toxic people. We all have our story that no one knows, we all hide our pain and the side that no one has seen. We all are damaged, some more than others. We all are humans, lets spread humanity, love and care.

And who am I? I am someone who cares about you
